Salt and pepper mills have made a huge comeback in recent years. Our salt and pepper mills are designed with simple lines that look good on your table and feel right in the hand. Our mills come in three different sizes, six, eight and ten inches tall. This may come as a surprise but not all mill mechanisms are equal. One thing has become clear from talking to people at the shows that we do is that there are a lot of cheap mechanisms being passed off as a good mechanism and being used in the wrong application. Well let's look at what makes a good mill mechanism. A good pepper mill will have a stainless steel grinder in it not a steel grinder. Stainless steel will far out last a steel mechanism. A good salt mill will have a polycarbonate mechanism it it not a steel or even a stainless steel mechanism. Why? Because salt will corrode both steel and stainless steel over time. I know you've been told that salt will work in your pepper mill and they are right it will work but not for long. If you are having problems with your mill jamming and not grinding right after only a few months this is probably why. OK so what do we use you ask Our pepper mill grinder is made of stainless steel for longer life. Our salt mill grinders are made of heavy duty polycarbonate so that they won't corrode from the salt. They are both made right here in the USA not in China. You can adjust the size of the grind on either type of mill by turning the knob on the top. The mills are available in the following woods: Ash, Cherry, Birdseye Maple, Curly Maple, Walnut and dyed and laminated wood.
