My pottery is the result of a lifelong love of working with clay. I earned a MFA in Ceramics and traveled to China to work in a replicated Ming Dynasty pottery. It was there that I came to appreciate the tradition of the painted pot. Each piece is the result of a series of steps, beginning with the forming process on the potters wheel or by working with slabs of red or white earthenware. After forming, a sense of vibrance and expression is imparted by hand painting each pot with colored slips and under glazes. A preliminary bisque firing is followed by hand dipping food safe glaze, then, another firing, making the entire process a true labor of love, and each piece unique. These signed originals can be collected, and enjoyed on a daily basis.
